Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has sustained a significant injury in an accident, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced on Thursday. She has been admitted to the SSKM hospital under state management in Kolkata.
As per a spokesperson from the hospital, the 69-year-old political figure had a fall and struck her head against furniture at her residence soon after coming back from an event in Ballygunge, South Kolkata.
The TMC shared images of the chief minister on the social media platform X, showing her with a bleeding forehead. The party posted that their chairperson had sustained a major injury and requested that she be kept in prayers.
Sukanta Majumdar, the President of the BJP in the state,expressed wishes for a “speedy recovery” for the CM. Several other leaders also conveyed their wishes for her speedy recovery on X.
Mehbooba Mufti, the President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), conveyed prayers for Mamata Banerjee’s swift recovery.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that his thoughts were with her during this difficult time and that he was wishing her a speedy recovery.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also expressed concern, stating that he was deeply troubled to learn that Mamata had suffered an injury after being involved in an accident, and he was praying for her speedy recovery.
