Mumbai: Kia has brought the Sorento to the Indian market with an introductory starting price of ₹27.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The three-row SUV is locally produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and can be configured with either six or seven seats.
The Sorento marks Kia’s entry into the premium AWD SUV space in India. It is offered with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong-hybrid powertrain and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both powertrains are available with front-wheel drive, while AWD is offered on the higher-spec variants.
On the outside, the SUV follows Kia’s latest design approach, featuring a large signature grille, vertically positioned LED headlamps, and Y-shaped daytime running lights. The exterior also includes 19-inch alloy wheels, vertically arranged L-shaped LED tail lamps and chrome accents.
The cabin can be specified in grey-and-black or beige-and-black themes. The dashboard features two 12.3-inch displays, one serving as the instrument panel and the other as the infotainment screen. Kia also offers nine display themes inspired by Marvel, Disney and Pixar characters.
Buyers can choose between two different seating layouts. The six-seat version gets individual captain seats in the second row, while the seven-seat model uses a bench seat. Equipment includes ventilated front seats, powered seat adjustment, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, a powered tailgate and wireless charging. A 12-speaker Bose sound system is also available.
