Alappuzha: Announcing that he has exited the party in which he served for more than 63 years, CPM veteran and former Minister G. Sudhakaran on Thursday said he will contest the upcoming Kerala Legislative Assembly elections as an Independent candidate from Ambalappuzha.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Sudhakaran said he has no plans to abandon the ideals of the Communist movement and will not join any other political party or front.

He also said he would not criticise the Communist party or make personal allegations against anyone.

Mr. Sudhakaran added that he would not have wall graffiti as part of his campaign, though he would not oppose it if others choose to do it.

Replying to a question on whether he would accept support from any other front, he said he would respond only when such support is offered.

He also said he would not speak against the Left Democratic Front government.

Mr. Sudhakaran reiterated his earlier statement that he did not apply for the party’s annual membership scrutiny as he felt that the party’s State leadership and the Alappuzha district leadership had ignored and ridiculed him.
