New Delhi: Tata Trusts will constitute a Selection Committee to recommend the next chairman of Tata Sons after N Chandrasekaran chose against seeking another term once his existing tenure concludes on February 20, 2027.
The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) said its trustees had approved a resolution to begin the succession exercise “as soon as possible”, following the provisions set out in the Articles of Association of Tata Sons.
The move comes a day after Chandrasekaran informed the Tata Sons board that he would not put his name forward for another term as chairman.
SDTT said it respected Chandrasekaran’s decision and acknowledged his role and contribution to Tata Sons and the wider Tata group.
The Trust said his leadership and stewardship over the past decade deserved its “deepest appreciation”.
SDTT also said it would back Tata Sons in facilitating a leadership change that is smooth, timely and orderly, while remaining consistent with the values and long-term interests of Tata Sons and the Tata group.
