Telangana: K Kavitha, a prominent leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the daughter of former Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrashekar Rao, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday. This arrest followed an ED search at Kavitha’s residence in Hyderabad earlier today, culminating in her detention in the afternoon and subsequent formal recording of the arrest. Kavitha is slated to be transported to Delhi for further interrogation.
The ED’s search at Kavitha’s Hyderabad residence prompted protests by BRS activists outside her home. Upon learning of Kavitha’s custody, her brother and former Telangana Minister, K.T. Rama Rao, rushed to her residence.
This development is part of a larger case involving former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is also in custody. The investigation implicates Hyderabad businessman Sarath Reddy, YSR Congress MP Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy, and his son Raghav Magunta Reddy. Kavitha had been summoned multiple times for questioning but had evaded two previous summonses. Last year, she underwent three rounds of questioning in connection with the case, during which her statement was recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) by the central agency.
