Bengaluru: H D Revanna, a prominent MLA from Karnataka’s Janata Dal (Secular), was apprehended by authorities from a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Saturday regarding a kidnapping incident linked to accusations of sexual misconduct involving his son and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. His arrest swiftly followed the dismissal of his request for anticipatory bail by a Bengaluru court.

Taken into custody from the Padmanabhanagar residence of his father, JD(S) leader and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, H D Revanna was transported to the SIT office.

The case stems from a complaint lodged by the son of the alleged victim, who also asserts that H D Revanna’s son, Prajwal Revanna, subjected his mother to sexual abuse.

The allegations against H D Revanna involve kidnapping and sexual misconduct and were brought to light when the woman went missing on April 28, prompting the FIR registration. Suspicions are raised that HD Revanna’s confidant, Sathish Babanna, acted under his instructions in the abduction, for which Babanna has been apprehended.

The charges against HD Revanna include sections 364(a), 365, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, related to kidnapping and acting in concert with others to commit an offense.

After more than five days, the woman was located at a farmhouse in Kalenahalli village, Mysuru, associated with Rajashekar, H D Revanna’s aide. Plans are underway to record her statement in Bengaluru.

Alleged explicit video materials involving Prajwal Revanna have circulated in Hassan, prompting the formation of an SIT by the Karnataka government to investigate the claims.

The Karnataka Chief Minister’s office has been notified by the SIT probing the case that there’s a likelihood of the CBI issuing a “Blue Corner Notice” against Prajwal Revanna, indicating potential international involvement in gathering further details about his whereabouts and the allegations against him.
