New Delhi: The farmers are pressing forward with the Delhi Chalo March, determined to resume their strike on Wednesday. Despite the government’s stance that they will not be permitted to enter Delhi, the farmers are steadfast in their resolve. Leaders of farmers’ organizations are urging the government to allow the march to proceed if they are unwilling to engage in dialogue to address the issues. Meanwhile, internet restrictions persist in Haryana.

Yesterday, the farmers’ organizations rejected the proposals put forth by the central government. They dismissed the offer of a five-year contract to purchase a variety of crops, encompassing legumes, corn, and cotton. Instead, they have declared their intention to prolong their strike until guaranteed support prices for crops are assured.

Accusing the government of attempting to sidetrack their demands, farmer organizations are critical of the central government’s directives. The joint committee of farmers’ organizations is also demanding the procurement of all 23 varieties of crops, as promised in the BJP’s 2014 election manifesto.
