New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. A 12-member ED team arrived at Kejriwal’s house with a search warrant after the Delhi High Court rejected the plea to stay the arrest in the Delhi liquor policy case on Thursday.

Kejriwal had filed a petition with the court in response to repeated summons issued by the ED. The bench handling the case also indicated that his plea would be heard on April 22.

The ED had issued nine summons requesting Kejriwal to appear for questioning, but he had refused to comply with them. The ninth summons was sent by the ED on Sunday, prompting Kejriwal to seek legal recourse against the ED through the High Court. According to the ED, Kejriwal’s name appears multiple times in the charge sheet related to the Delhi Liquor Policy case.

The ED alleges that individuals involved in the case were in communication with Kejriwal during the development of the liquor policy for the fiscal year 2021-22. Previously, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, as well as the party’s communication in-charge Vijay Nair, along with some liquor businessmen, had also been arrested by the ED in connection with this case.

Additionally, K Kavita, a leader from Telangana’s BRS party, was recently arrested in connection with the same case.
