At the 2023 Google I/O event, Google disclosed its ongoing work on an advanced AI model named ‘Gemini.’ The tech behemoth had initially planned to introduce its GPT-4 rival sometime in the upcoming week, but a recent report indicates a potential postponement of the launch to January 2024.
As per sources reported by The Information, Gemini encountered challenges in handling non-English queries, leading Google CEO Sundar Pichai to delay the release until January of the following year. The report emphasizes the significance of multi-language support for Google to surpass OpenAI’s GPT-4, noting that Google has achieved that standard in certain aspects.
In the preceding month, Pichai mentioned the company’s commitment to promptly releasing Gemini 1.0, albeit still in the process of finalizing the most extensive version of the upcoming AI model.
