According to official records, 222 people have died in the Wayanad Mundakkai landslide as of Monday afternoon, with over 200 still missing. The search for bodies continues today.
Kerala media reported that the death toll from the landslide rose to 405 on Monday. So far, 172 people have been identified. The bodies of 8 identified individuals were buried on Sunday, and the remaining unidentified bodies will be buried today.
A special search will be conducted in the area where a signal was received during a drone survey led by Retired Major General Indrabalan. The state government has decided to limit the number of search personnel crossing the Bailey bridge to Mundakkai to 1,500.
Revenue Minister K Rajan said that a special action plan has been prepared for the burials, which will commence at 3 PM on Monday.
