President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he would reveal new tariffs on semiconductors within the next week, continuing his efforts to implement strict duties to tackle U.S. trade challenges.
When asked about possible tariffs on iPhones, Trump indicated that a decision would be announced shortly and stressed the importance of allowing “some flexibility.”
He also mentioned that some companies could be granted leeway under the semiconductor tariffs, although he did not elaborate on the specifics.
Trump confirmed that the new semiconductor tariffs would be enforced in the near future.
In response to a question about the tariff rate for semiconductors, he replied that it would be revealed within the upcoming week.
Previously, Trump cautioned that all countries – particularly China – would feel the effects of the tariffs, noting that recent exclusions for products such as smartphones and semiconductors were merely temporary.
