In a heart-wrenching incident, a two-year-old child from Pulpatta panchayat passed away from measles last July, as reported by District Medical Officer (DMO) R Renuka. The DMO highlighted that the child had not been vaccinated against the disease.
Compounding the concern, a nine-month-old infant is currently in intensive care at Manjeri Medical College Hospital due to measles. The DMO also disclosed that another child had succumbed to the same disease back in May.
In response to these distressing events, the DMO is urging residents of the district to stay vigilant against measles and take necessary precautions. She emphasized that a crucial measure in guarding against this disease is ensuring timely vaccination for all children, a step that significantly enhances their immunity.
