New Delhi: As per reports, Tesla Inc, the leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer under Elon Musk’s leadership, has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Tesla Power India Ltd, headquartered in Gurugram. This legal action coincides with ongoing discussions regarding Tesla’s potential entry into the Indian market.
Tesla, incorporated in Delaware, USA, alleges that the Indian company has wrongfully adopted trade names like “Tesla Power USA” and “Tesla Power.”
In response, Tesla Power has informed the court that they do not intend to manufacture EVs and will refrain from marketing EVs from other entities under their trademark, “Tesla Power USA,” or any similarly misleading branding.
The case was considered by the Delhi High Court. The Court granted the Indian firm a three-week period to submit written responses after it submitted a set of supporting documents for its defense. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for May 22nd.
