Rohit Sharma once again silenced his critics with a stellar performance, notching up a century in the first innings of the third test at Rajkot on Thursday. His composed innings saw him amass 131 runs from 196 deliveries, featuring an impressive tally of 14 boundaries and three towering sixes. Partnering with Ravindra Jadeja, Sharma contributed significantly to a formidable partnership of 204 runs for the fourth wicket, rescuing India from a precarious position of 3 for 33.

This century stands as a resounding retort to naysayers, particularly those who doubted his suitability for Test cricket. Under intense pressure, Sharma’s masterful innings bolstered the team’s resolve, enabling them to counter the threat posed by the English bowling attack earlier in the day.

Following Sharma’s heroics, Jadeja also showcased his batting prowess, registering a century off 212 deliveries. India concluded the first day’s play at 326 runs for the loss of five wickets, with Jadeja unbeaten on 110 runs, while Kuldeep Yadav, with one run, will accompany him to the crease on the second day.

Sarfaraz Khan’s contribution was notable, as he crafted a fine innings of 62 runs from 66 balls before unfortunately succumbing to a run-out. On the bowling front, Mark Wood impressed for the English team, claiming three crucial wickets, while Tom Hartley chipped in with one dismissal.
