Renowned actor Matthew Perry, celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Chandler Bing in the beloved sitcom “Friends,” has passed away at the age of 54, reported United States media sources.
Tragically, Perry was discovered lifeless on Saturday afternoon in a hot tub at his residence in Los Angeles, as indicated by the LA Times, which cited information from law enforcement authorities.
During its impressive 10-season run from 1994 to 2004, NBC’s “Friends” catapulted Perry to global stardom, solidifying his status as one of the most recognizable figures in the entertainment industry.
In addition to his television success, Perry also graced the silver screen in memorable films such as “Fools Rush In” and “The Whole Nine Yards.” Regrettably, the actor openly discussed his battles with addiction, seeking rehabilitation for both painkillers and alcohol.
In his poignant 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Perry bravely recounted a harrowing five-month hospitalization in 2018, following a severe colon rupture, an ordeal that left him with a mere two percent chance of surviving the night.
