During the World Cup final between India and Australia at Ahmedabad stadium on Sunday, a supporter advocating for Palestine managed to breach the stringent security measures in an attempt to approach Virat Kohli for a hug.
The incident occurred prior to the first drinks break, and security personnel promptly detained the individual, identified as Wayne Johnson, an Australian of Chinese-Filipino descent.
Johnson, who was wearing a face mask adorned with the design of a Palestinian flag and a T-shirt featuring slogans on both sides, including “stop bombing Palestine” on the front and “Save Palestine” on the back, was swiftly arrested and taken to the Chand Kheda Police station.
The unexpected intrusion surprised onlookers, but security acted promptly to address the situation.
