The ‘Navakerala Sadas,’ an ambitious people outreach program by the Kerala state government, commenced in Kasaragod on November 18, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurating the state-level event. In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister took a firm stand against the dissemination of fake news by the media regarding the bus procured for ministerial travel during state events. He invited journalists on board to inspect the bus, aiming to dispel any misconceptions.

Addressing the audience, the Chief Minister underscored Kerala’s increasing global prominence and reflected on the state’s historical challenges. He emphasized the significant positive transformations witnessed under the current government’s leadership. Revenue Minister K. Rajan, presiding over the function, echoed these sentiments, reiterating the government’s commitment to propel Kerala forward.

The inauguration saw the participation of several ministers, including K. Radhakrishnan, P. Rajeev, K.N. Balagopal, VN Vasavan, J. Chinchu Rani, Saji Cherian, P. A. Mohammed Riyas, P. Prasad, M.B. Rajesh, G.R. Anil, V. Sivankutty, R. Bindu, Veena George, V. Abdurahiman, and others.

The ‘Navakerala Sadas’ initiative entails a tour of all 140 constituencies, where the Chief Minister and ministers actively seek suggestions from the public and address their grievances. The event, set to conclude on December 23 in Thiruvananthapuram, has garnered significant attention, even though the United Democratic Front (UDF) has opted to boycott the assembly. The UDF MLAs will not participate in the events.

The public can submit complaints exclusively at designated counters near the assembly venue. Each constituency has specific counters catering to senior citizens, women, general categories, and differently-abled individuals. Complaints, inclusive of full addresses and contact details, are accepted three hours before and after the event, with clear instructions provided at the counters for complainants’ guidance.

To streamline the complaints process, each counter is staffed with four employees, including a supervisor, with an additional six reserve employees for each constituency. The General Supervision Officer ensures the prompt forwarding of applications to the Collectorate for data entry. Complaints are uploaded online within two days, with district-level officials committed to resolving them within two weeks, or four weeks if further processing is necessary.

Complainants receive an interim reply within one week, and the status of complaints can be tracked online via the provided receipt number or mobile number on the official website www.navakeralasadas.kerala.gov.in.
