Jharkhand: Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, took legal action on Wednesday by filing an FIR against Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials who conducted raids at his Delhi residence regarding a money laundering case. The FIR, registered at the SC/ST police station in Ranchi just before his questioning, emphasizes the alleged mental and emotional distress inflicted upon him and his family by the ED’s actions.
The police department confirmed the lodging of the FIR against certain senior ED officials. The ED team spent nearly 13 hours searching Soren’s Delhi residence on Monday in connection with a money laundering investigation. During the operation, the agency reportedly seized a total of Rs 36 lakh, an SUV, and what they deemed as “incriminating” documents.
Presently undergoing questioning at his Ranchi residence, Soren contested ownership of the seized BMW car, denying any connection to it. He also refuted allegations of possessing illicit cash, asserting that the ED officials intentionally aimed to publicly humiliate him through their actions.
