Kochi: Gold prices moved higher on Tuesday. The cost of a sovereign rose to ₹1,02,160 following the latest increase. The price of the yellow metal climbed by ₹200 per gram to ₹12,770.

The price of one sovereign had earlier crossed the ₹1 lakh mark on December 15, when it touched ₹1,00,120. The repeated breach of this psychological threshold has caused unease among buyers.

Silver prices, too, registered an uptick. The metal gained ₹3 per gram in morning trade to ₹234, while the price per kilogram rose by ₹3,000 to ₹2,34,000.
