MUMBAI: An Air India A320 aircraft, flight AI 2744 (registration VT-TYA), arriving from Kochi, skidded off the runway while landing in Mumbai on Monday morning amid intense rainfall.
Despite the runway incident, the aircraft proceeded safely to the terminal, and all passengers and crew exited without injury. The plane has been taken out of service for further inspection.
According to a statement from Air India, flight AI2744 encountered heavy rain during its arrival in Mumbai on July 21, 2025, leading to a runway excursion. However, the aircraft managed to taxi to the gate, and everyone on board deplaned safely.
The spokesperson further mentioned that the aircraft has been grounded for necessary inspections and reiterated that the airline prioritises the well-being of passengers and crew above all else. Aviation analysts noted the heightened danger of landing during monsoon conditions, pointing out that this was the second similar occurrence in India in this month.
